Virginia Beach
|
I would have to give Virginia Beach a definite thumbs-up as a family vacation destination.
We parked the car when we got there and didn't have to get back in it until we headed home.
They have a neat trolley that takes you where you want to go and there are lots of things to do
within easy walking distance from the hotel strip. The aquarium that we went to on the first
day is NOT one of the things within easy walking distance, but we walked it anyway with a
great sense of accomplishment and a few blisters. They also have all these big pieces
of concrete beach art in the shapes of things like sea shells and beach balls all up and down the
boardwalk that you'll see Sammy posing on.
In the first two pictures Sammy is standing in front of the harbor seal tank at the aquarium.
The boat you see in the distance from the beach is an unknown aircraft carrier. We put a
quarter in a pair of binoculars to try and see a name on it, but it was turned the wrong direction.
It's impossible to forget that there are both a Naval and an Air Force base nearby. Day and night
military jets are flying over, we watched helicopters doing practice maneuvers over the ocean
saw the big military ships heading in and out.
