Owen was very happy to have his blue chair brought down so that he could get out of bed and sit up
for a while. His sister came down for a visit and worked on her latch-hook kit. We couldn't bring down
his wooden tray, so we used bandage tape to stick one of the hospital food trays to his chair. It's hard
to find enough toys to keep a little boy from getting bored for a two week stay in the hospital so I went to the
kitchen section where you can by three wisks for $1.50, three spoons for $.99 or a strainer for under
$2.00. One toy from the kid's section would cost at least $7.00 so I was able to get a lot more bang for the
buck with utensils. Owen is playing with the strainer in the first picture. Dr. Fuchs, one of the two
pediatric neurosurgeons at Duke came in to check up on Owen and saw him playing with this stuff and laughed
about it for the next two weeks.
